Unique Additives for Polymer Modification

Coupling Agents

Coupling agents are similar to dispersants and perform many of the same functions. In addition to preventing agglomeration, a properly selected coupling agent also improves adhesion between the filler and the polymer. This enhances load transfer across the interface with the primary consequence being a boost in the yield strength of the composite, both at room temperature and under adverse conditions, such as high temperature or humidity.

Coupling agents improve filler-polymer adhesion leading to increased strength Compatibilizers Compatibilizers are analogous to coupling agents. They diffuse to the interface between to incompatible polymers and interact with each to improve dispersion and adhesion.
